Best Family-Friendly Meals

As a housewife, I suffered from a lot of issues around the household. One of the major problems would be what everyone wants to eat! Because of that, we always go for takeout. It began becoming a waste of money and lessened our healthiness, so we needed to decide what’s best for all of us. Because of that, I decided to step up and improve my cooking skills. I made a meal plan and began experimenting. Fortunately, everyone appreciated the effort and LOVED a lot of the dishes I made!

As a result, I help you out and show you my top three favorite family-friendly meals:

  1. Egg Fried Rice

If you have leftover rice from the night before, then frying it with egg and other spices will make it a nice, savory breakfast anyone would love to wake up to. Plus, you save money and lessen the wastage of rice.

    What You Need:
    Leftover rice
    Chicken breast
    Chopped carrots
    Chopped onion and spring onion
    Frozen peas
    Canned corn
    A beaten egg
    Salt and pepper

    For the sauce:
    Soy sauce
    Sesame Oil
    Caster sugar

Here’s what you need to do:

1 Mix all the ingredients for the sauce and use it to marinade the chicken for about ten minutes.

2 Steam the carrots and peas (8 and 4 minutes respectively), and then add it to the rice.

3 Heat oil in a pan and then saute the chopped onion for 3 minutes.

4 On a separate pan, cook the beaten egg (seasoned with salt and pepper), then chop it into small pieces.

5 Drain the marinade from the chicken (save the marinade) then cook it along with the onions in the pan for about 4 minutes. Then, add in all the vegetables and let it cook for a minute.

6 Add the rice and then sautee them all together. Top it off with egg and the marinade right after.

  2. Yogurt Fettucine Alfredo

All kids love pasta, but save the usual marinara sauce for some other time and go for something creamy and light, like yogurt!

    You will need:
    -A pound of fettuccine noodles
    -A crushed garlic clove
    -A cup of plain yogurt
    -One tablespoon of butter
    -Half a teaspoon of salt
-A pinch of Italian seasoning, pepper, and nutmeg
-Half a cup of grated cheese

Here’s what you need to follow:
1 Cook the noodles according to the directions. Add the crushed and chopped garlic into the pasta, enhancing its flavor.

2 Mix in the yogurt, salt, and Italian seasoning.

3 Remove the water from the pot, separating it from the noodles. Then, put the noodles back to the pot and mix it in with butter. Add in the yogurt mixture and stir.

4 Add the cheese and other seasonings. And you’re done!
